Join us for a talk and discussion on how past medical harms impact present patient experiences and health outcomes. Dr. Tina Sacks, Associate Professor at UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare shares her findings from her recent research on the rippling effect the US Public Health Service Syphilis Study at Tuskegee has had on descendants of those who were abused by the US government. Dr. Ayanna Bennett, Chief Health Equity Officer at the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and Dr. Starr Knight, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine, serve as the discussants for this forum, providing expert commentary on the larger theme of ancestral trauma and health.
